It all started in 1983, when the Italian-American brothers Mario and Luigi decided to clear the New York City from the creatures that came from the sewer. Of course, in the beginning it was just a 2d platform game created by nintendo for the arcades. But the game was so successful that it became a phenomenon,and the hit of every arcade saloon in Japan. By the year 1985, nintendo announced the Super Mario Bros., which was an enhanced sequel to the first game. So the legend started and rolled over the world in a few months. It was rapidly transferred to the 64k world, including Atari, Apple, Commodore 64 and many others.
The simplicity of the game is the main reason why it has so much fun within. You just have to jump on creatures, flip them over, so they die. It's all about how quick your reflexes are. You are either Mario or Luigi your goal is to save princess Peach. Even in the first version it was that simple and so it goes through the whole version history of the game. It's just a time killer by having fun, lots of fun.
